I actually could back up the whole hard drive on a floppy..since the hard drive doesn't exist! [Mar. 2nd, 2008|04:35 pm]

I have the very beginnings of a new project on which I will be working in the coming months, or whenever I get the money to waste on it! I present to you the following...

...It's a Tandy TRS-80 Mark 4. And it will be the bestest computer out there! Oh sure, there are naysayers out there who will tell me that it will be impossible to load Windows XP on a system with only 16 kilobytes of RAM. And sure the presence of the floppy drives is a little out of date. Wait..those are five-and-a-quarter, actually-floppy-floppy-disk drives? Hmm, well...

I intend on tearing out most of the guts and making it into a fully functional 21st century computator! This 'case mod' project will make it into a sleeper computer, and I will make sure that it has only the toppest of the line hardware in it, so it can process words like never before. I am sure those people at the Tandy Corporation will actually pay me money for improving their design so much! I am not entirely sure at present how I am going to do it, but I will figure it out! Oh wait..the Tandy Corporation doesn't exist anymore? Oh well..

I will try and keep a journal of the progress of this most intensive and pointless of projects, and when it is all done, I will post it on the Internets for all to see! I may even be asking some of the more tech-savvy of you out there for assistance. Questions such as "where will I be able to find a 13" flat-panel monitor for fairly cheap?" And, "Does Windows XP have support for 'legacy' 5.25" floppy drives?" So help will be greatly appreciated!
