The cat got a bath

So...I haven't updated since the florth of july. There is a perfectly good reason for that. Well, wait. No there isn't.

Work is work. I go in, leave 9 hours later, and I am much the wiser for it each day. Well, not really. Actually, I am not sure of what will happen to me, but then again, no one can ever be completely sure of what will happen to them.

And now at this point in my life, I am on the precipice of a major decision. And for this decision, I am asking the advice of anyone who reads this!!! The choice I have set before myself is thus:

1. Stay here in Arizona.
2. Move back to Dallas.

There are compelling arguments for both sides, but what it comes down to is staying in an easy but possibly stagnant situation, or taking command of my life on my own and possibly failing miserably. If I were to go back to Dallas, I would be giving up a lot, namely the convenience and closeness of my family. But after a year of little real growth, progress, or oppurtunities, I am beginning to wonder if Arizona is all it was never cracked up to be. Other factors include the following.

Reasons to stay in Arizona...
-Easy access to all the sand I could ever need, but more importantly, my family.
-Oppressive heat.
-I am presently here, and it is easier to stay where one is than to get up and move a bunch of crap 1000 miles across the country to Dallas.
-Better access to IN-N-OUT burger joints, which are quite lacking in the Dallas areas.

Reasons to move to Dallas...
-Better access to various friends, Reunion Arena, and Cici's.
-Oppressive fickle weather.
-College (as well as cost of living (as well as many other subsequent things)) is much less expensive.
-Once I get there, it would be easier to stay there then to move to Newark, New Jersey.

Reasons to move to Newark, New Jersey
-Garden State, after the first five minutes, is set there.
-Easy access to New York, so I can be in one of the few extremely self-important places in the world.

If I did decide to move, it would be in the winter/post-christmas time, as the lease is up in November, and I would probably not want to leave just before Christmas. I am guaranteeing myself at least ONE more semester of crappy and uber-expensive basic courses at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, at the VERY least.

Let me know what y'all think, because truly, input and advice would be appreciated.

A fair and balanced (not even close) look at your decision...

OK, first off, my opinion is that you and Zach should move back here and Kyle should call the Pentagon and make them transfer him to a base more nearby. The fact is that in 6 months four people moved away and I think its nearly 9.71% your fault, as you were the first and thus set an unfortunate trend.

Well, Jon Minesinger happens to have just moved back from Chicago and rightfully so. Were you to move back it would certainly be a glorious return.

Speaking from personal experience, I love the Garland/Denton area. I love the people and the easy access to no less than six malls and four large movie theaters.

My parents have recently moved, as I'm sure you're aware, to Mabank, TX. That is an hour-fifteen away and quite inconvenient, but it does not make me want to move to Mabank. I like the life I'm building for myself.

What it boils down to is X number of points.

X-5: Your family doesn't need you to stay in Arizona (I'm assuming that they will be fiscally sound without your percentage of the rent or whatever you contribute).
X-4: John is here and were you to move back it would probably make it easier to coordinate various YM projects.
X-3: Me and Mark are here and we are chuckleheads. There is a 2.8% chance that something will happen to the Slackers site and we will require you to come over and perform your PHP witchcraft to fix it.
X-2: Statistics can be used to prove anything, 14% of everone knows that.
X-1: Living a stagnant life can lead to depression and debt.
X: I think its important for every young man to decide what he wants to do and do it. Everyone needs to make their own life without their family.

My recent depression was as a result of living a stagnant life. After finishing my first year of college I realized that I had done nothing for myself. I had no job, no place of my own to live, no girlfriend, not even any new clothes. Plus, I was living with my family in Mabank for about a month, something that made my friends seem a thousand miles away.

If you were to fail in this grand experiment its not as if there's no one here to fall back on.

Obviously, this is your decision and maybe my points were slightly biased, but I stand by them and my thought that right now there is no better place to be than here.

I wish you luck.

P.S. Before you make your decision you should look into the Newark possibility. If Natalie Portman (or some kooky girl who looks like her) lives there as Garden State would suggest then by all means give Texas the finger and go to NJ.

In my opinion...

I would say, for the young and virile men of the world, the riskier situation is always the better one. Stagnation can lead to death, dismemberment, and mid life crisis at the ripe old age of 20.

Also, it brings up the age old idea of is it better to have tried, and lost, then never to have tried at all?

Aye, there's the rub.

The good thing about you moving back here to Dallas is that you have support from many friends. You have many who would help you out anyway possible if you ever needed it.

College is cheaper making it easier to jump from retail to big business once your get some sheep skin or whatever it is made out of these days.

YM Projects would be easier and I can maybe pull in some more work with the people who come to me with there issues nowadays. That and the new DNS, domain host, and upgrades to the network have opened more doors to creativeness.

There is no family here... but that would be exchanged for friends. If you feel family is more important now after all the time, I'd think before jumping here. Family may be more important to you.

I guess what I want to say is... if you do move back, I'd help if you ever called.

thoughts, and Ideas

after pondering this quite a bit I have decided to make a comment of my own.

I, sadly, have not spoken with you in quite a while. Hopefully that will soon change.

You are getting older. You are getting smarter, and you are at a place in life where you, obviously have a decision to make.

I can't make the decision for you, so I'd like to give you the pros and cons from my perspective and then my thoughts.

Pros of moving to Dallas:
-Cheaper College
-Job oppurtunities (If I remember correctly, there are walgreens in Dallas)
-Your friends who miss you (spring break 05 was amazing)
-The ability to start your own life.

Cons of not moving to Dallas and staying in Arizona
-You have your Family who can support you and that is comfortable
-You have a school that has already accepted you
-Arizona's Lt. Gov has no real power, so you don't have to worry about that part of politics like you do in Texas.
-There are Cacti in Arizona, Texas is for the most part lacking.

Honestly, this is a ridiculously hard decision to make.

If you come to Dallas you will be (basically) jumping in with both eyes closed. You'd have a small support group, but basically you'd begin your life on your own, a step that eventually has to happen anyway. You will have job oppurtunities and, as you know, Dallas is a wellspring of Technological jobs.

I am of the mindset that says, if you aren't moving forward you are moving backwards. If you honestly feel Stagnet in Arizona, I'd say you need to find some way to move forwards, if that is moving to Dallas than do it! No one ever gets anywhere without a risk.

And true, you could fail misserably, but then you still have a family. Those friends in Dallas who would be more than willing to help you out, and that family in Arizona whom will most certainly be willing to take you back.

Honestly, I've known you long enough to know that won't be necessary. You are ready to make it on your own Tim. I know it. I believe it. You've got this.

That's just my thoughts on the matter. Make this decision yourself because yes, we all want you back, but what we want doesn't matter even minutely compared to what you want.
