Egregious Spelling Mistake: Advant Calendre

December 9th

As of yesterday, December 9th, all of my Christmas cards were sent out to their respective receipients. I'm not exactly sure what motivated me to send out that first batch in 2005, but this ritual has become one of the things I look forward to in the holiday season. Everything, from designing them to getting them printed up (and visiting with my former Walgreens coworkers) to sending them out and thinking up semi-clever or otherwise innocuous phrases to write on them is a joy in itself. I guess mainly I am glad to have people in my life enough that I CAN send them cards. If I could change anything about that, it would be that I wish that the contact was more than just a Christmas card and occasional LJ or Facebook backs-and-forths.

I had 40 made up this year. I didn't think I'd give them all away, but I only have one left. And that one is for my mother. If you're reading this and didn't get a card, you have no one to blame but yourself. Or the incompetent mailman. I kid, of course. But if you didn't get one, it was because I don't have you address. Send your real, physical address to me and I will be sure you get one next year. Assuming I can still get them printed up...

I sent the letter to the old address, and it was returned to sender with the new address on the bottom. Leave it to the Post Office to not simply send it on through themselves...

How are you doing? How is Josh doing? And how is Ethan? I must know information!

Well, why not send it back to you informing you that we moved so then you get the pleasure of remailing it? Lame. But at least you know we moved and that's more than you knew a month ago! Are you still on myspace? I'll add you if are and then we can keep in touch better. And I'm almost positive Josh is planning on making a new account too.

Lets see... we moved out of the Houston borderline-ghetto to Katy, a city I guess you can compare to Rowlett or Rockwall or Sachse. We're pretty much in love and we're staying in the complex until we can afford to start buying a house in hopefully the next 5 years. Josh is still working at Kohl's as Loss Prevention Manager. He's making $16.99 now... couldn't they have given him that one penny? His boss, the whole reason we were able to move down here, is leaving to Iraq next month for a security job on a military base. Josh almost went also because the pay is hella good but still not worth it for us. So he'll be job searching soon but with so many people losing their jobs lately he's not depending on it. Me? What about me? I live this nice little life where my husband makes the big bucks and I have the privilege of staying home with my son and playing housewife. When Ethan does start school I plan on either a) going to college to become a medical receptionist b) getting a part-time job for something to do while Ethan is away. We're going to the local elementary school on the 6th, when school starts again, to enroll Ethan in speech therapy. He seems to have the same problems I had but luckily the school district won't decide he needs to ride the short bus to school, lol. We're not worried about it but we want to do what we can to have him catchup. He turns 4-years-old on January 20th and doesn't form sentences yet. Yeah... we almost have a 4-year-old and we're at almost 5 years of marriage too! We're healthy, happy and out of the red when it comes to money. Can't complain, can't complain. :-P

How about you? In the mood to write a book back? When are you visiting Dallas again? We're not planning a trip until the weekend after Christmas 2009. So if you're coming before then, maybe you could go a little out of the way to Houston and stay a night or two?

MySpace..unfortunately no. I have a Facebook account now which I visit semi-frequently. Just search for my name! I still use my livejournal pretty regularly, so you know where to find me if ever you want contact.

Hard to think the little one is 4 years old, but I guess that's what happens when the time goes by as it does. I am just living here in Arizona, working at a job refurbishing silicon wafer probers. It doesn't pay a whole lot, but I make the bills with it. I am still with my lovely lady Jessika, but we are just taking things as they come. I am going to go back to school for electronics engineering (at least an associates) and see where that leads me.

I am glad to read things are going so well. I was planning a Dallas trip sometime for next year, but I don't know when as of yet. Maybe I can coordinate my time to come for the same time you're up there (my company shuts down during the week of Christmas and New Years.) When things become more concrete, I will be sure to let you know. Take care, and tell Josh I said 'hello!'
